A backup quotation should explain more than the license price. It should identify what is protected, who can restore it, where the copies are stored and what support is included when a recovery fails.
When comparing Acronis providers in Saudi Arabia, separate the software entitlement from the engineering and ongoing service. Both need a clear scope.
Verify the product and entitlement
Acronis operates a reseller partner program. Ask a prospective supplier for current evidence of its status and check that the quoted product, edition and deployment model match your requirements.
The proposal should identify the subscription term, protected workloads, storage charges, account ownership, renewal process and support route. A product activation alone does not tell you what services or support your organization has purchased.
If the licensing route is unclear, ask the supplier and vendor to confirm the entitlement before ordering. Avoid assuming that every reseller offers the same registration, renewal or escalation service.
Evaluate the recovery design
Define recovery time and recovery point objectives for each important system. Ask how the proposed backup schedule and restore method will meet them, and what assumptions were made about bandwidth, storage and replacement infrastructure.
A file restore, an application recovery and a complete site recovery are different tests. Include the dependencies needed to bring the business service back: identity, databases, network configuration and application licenses.
Storage location is also a design decision. Confirm retention, deletion controls, administrative access and the responsibilities of any cloud or hosting provider. If immutable storage is proposed, identify the supported storage target and mode rather than accepting the word “immutable” without a configuration.
Compare the service, not just the key
Ask each supplier to document:
- Who owns the management account and how access is handed over.
- Which systems, agents and versions are covered.
- Who watches failed jobs and storage capacity.
- How incidents are raised and escalated.
- Whether restore testing is included, and how often.
- What happens at renewal or when you change providers.
Request a sample report and a recovery test plan. Engineer qualifications and references are useful when verified, but they do not replace an agreed delivery scope.
Make acceptance measurable
Before signing off, demonstrate a representative restore, record the result and check that the customer can access the documentation and escalation contacts. Agree what happens when a test misses its objective.
For ongoing protection, schedule a review after material changes to applications, data volumes or infrastructure. A backup design should evolve with the systems it protects.
